The guide to know the labeling of pet food is now available

The European Pet Food Federation (FEDIAF), of which the National Association of Pet Food Manufacturers (ANFAAC) is a member, has launched an e-learning guide to improve the understanding and implementation of food legislation for pets as well as voluntary standards for information on or off the label.

This tool, which has been developed by FEDIAF regulation experts and is available on the ANFAAC website. This consists of six chapters offering sample labels and a question and answer section to analyze in more detail the three basic functions of product communication: 'Consumer information', 'Control and application' and 'Marketing and retail. '

Thomas Meyer, Secretary General of FEDIAF, says: “This is the first time that FEDIAF has designed an online training tool and we are delighted with the results. In recent months, we have become more used to working from home and we hope that this flexible web-based tool will help users understand the complexities of pet food labeling and communication. "

For his part, Víctor Romano, advisory member of the ANFAAC Technical Committee and president of the FEDIAF product communication working group explains that the Labeling Code was established under the principles of co-regulation with the support of the responsible institutions of the EU and It should be read in conjunction with relevant EU and national legislation. “The e-learning launch will provide further guidance on interpreting the code, promoting a harmonized approach across Europe,” Romano emphasizes.
