Warehouses, shipping departments, manufacturing, as well as retail and other applications: Datalogic's Falcon X4 mobile computer feels at home wherever real-time data management plays an important role. Available in a handheld or pistol grip version, it offers the ultimate in ergonomics, allowing users to enjoy their work without any worries.
Depending on the need, the Falcon X4 is equipped with either a 1D or 2D imager. Datalogic's patented »Green Spot« technology provides the user with reliable feedback upon a successful scan, increasing the efficiency of data acquisition in ways that go beyond the mere speed of the device. The Falcon X4 reads 1D barcodes with a green scan line that also captures barcodes from displays and monitors. The 2D barcodes are read with white backlighting, which does not put any strain on the user's eyes, creates optimal contrasts when printed in color, and even captures DPM codes.
Data transmission occurs via WLAN 802.11 a/b/g/n with CCX v4 and MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) for a reliable stable connection. In addition, Bluetooth is another option, such as for the connection of a headset. Users operate the mobile computer with the multi-touch-capable 3.5” touch screen and the keypad underneath, which comes in three versions: numeric, alphanumeric or functional numeric. The buttons are backlit for operation in unfavorable lighting conditions.
As far as the operating system is concerned, the Falcon X4 comes with pre-installed Windows Embedded Compact 7 or Android 4.4. An upgrade from Windows to Android is also possible at a later time, and opens up a whole range of new features - including Wide Band Audio for advanced speech recognition and various terminal emulation programs.
As a mobile terminal for warehousing and logistics work, a device like the Falcon X4 naturally has to cope with a lot of adverse conditions. That’s why the housing is protected against regular contact with dust, moisture and dirt according to IP65 standards. It is also fall-protected up to 1.8m, so the Falcon X4 also withstands falls from head level - even onto bare concrete. The scanner is additionally covered with a window made of Gorilla Glass 3.
Inside the housing an OMAP dual core processor from Texas Instruments operates with 1 GB of RAM - about three times faster than the predecessor Falcon X3+. The 8 GB Flash memory may be increased to a full 32 GB by MicroSD card. At the heart of its high computing power, the Falcon X4 relies on a 5,200 mAh battery, which reliably supplies the device even during longer shifts. And should the battery run low on the way, it may be exchanged for a freshly charged one during operation.
Various accessories for the Falcon X4 are available for customization and adaption, including desktop and vehicle docking stations. There are also various protective covers for particularly rough applications, as needed with a belt clip or shoulder strap. In addition, the X4 is compatible with all the accessories of its predecessor, the Falcon X3+, so in case of an upgrade only the mobile computer itself needs to be replaced.
